Hod's Message

Microbiology department of BMCST runs U. G. (B.Sc. Microbiology) & P.G. (Post graduate Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology) courses. B.Sc. Microbiology is 3 year having total 06 semesters that include study of microbes and their interactions with humans, animals, plants, and the environment. Microbes are those organisms usually too small to be seen by the naked eye, such as bacteria, viruses and archaea, and eukaryotes like yeast, protozoa and algae.

The Field of microbiology had huge potential in South Gujarat. The South Gujarat region is flourish with industries like Textiles, Pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, biologics and many more. Thus, the scope of microbiology within South Gujarat is much more. 

Students opting microbiology may get Jobs in all of these sectors as Research Scientist, Quality Control Officer, Production Officers, Laboratory Technicians and many more.

Post graduate Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology course had been design for 1 years. It is a kind of professional courses for those who want to build their career in health care sector; need to serve the society in the field of diagnostic. It includes study of various subjects like medical microbiology, Immunology, Clinical Pathology, Clinical Parasitology, Haematology, Blood Banking, Instrumentation & techniques and Clinical Biochemistry. Students enrolled in PGDMLT can work in microbiology, clinical pathology, clinical biochemistry blood banking etc., They can also get job in industries engaged in production of various diagnostic kit for diagnosis of various disease.  Students in this course were getting training in various hospitals and laboratory to get real world exposure.

The students Eligibility for getting admission to the B.Sc. Microbiology program is 10 + 2 with Science stream (B or AB group). The admission will be as per Veer Narmad South Gujarat University rule. Academic session starts in the month of June for every year.

The students Eligibility for getting admission to the P.G.D.M.L.T course graduation with Microbiology, Botany, Zoology, Medical Technology & Chemistry (should have biology subject as subsidiary). The admission will be as per Veer Narmad South Gujarat University rule. Academic session starts in the month of June for every year.

The students of FY, SY and TY are very punctual and they are very much satisfied with the performances of all the teachers of the college and vice-versa. The students are encouraged to complete the practical classes with much ease and expertise. All the laboratories are enriched with sophisticated instruments like Autoclave, laminar Air Flow system, Hot Air Oven, Orbital Shaker, Incubator(with shaker), Water bath, Table Top Centrifuge, Spinwin Centrifuge, Specific gravity meter, Colorimeter, Phase contrast microscopes, Image analyser Microscope, pH meter, Distillation apparatus etc. All the class rooms are full-fledged equipped with mobile projector, and Wi-Fi connectivity. In this regard, while working in laboratory, materials, chemicals and other consumables are plenty.
