Hod's Message

The Course of Biotechnology is designed to have a complete development of youth as Biotechnologist and explore the potential in the field of Plant Biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology, Microbial Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Biofuel Technology, Aquaculture Technology, Agriculture Biotechnology, Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering. The course had been design for 5 years having total of 10 semesters. In final semester, the students are required to carry out dissertation in the field of biotechnology that aids them to get acquainted with industrial exposure and provide the direction and application of biotechnology for industrial purpose.

The course is designed for 5 years divided into 10 semesters. The syllabus included various pure subject as well as applied subject pertaining to biotechnology, viz. Cell Biology, Microbiology, Applied Microbiology, Industrial Biotechnology, Genetic Engineering, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Plant Tissue culture, Animal Cell culture, Instrumentation and techniques, Enzyme technology, Bioremediation, Nanobiotechnology, Bioinformatics, Biofuel Technology and many more.

The course is designed as per the new notification from UGC under the CBCS scheme. The growth in the field of biotechnology and their potential is tremendous and had good future job prospectus. The syllabus so designed not only help the youth to learn biotechnology, but also provide the direction for getting better job in the field of life science, R & D as well as to develop entrepreneurship.

The students Eligibility for getting admission to the M.Sc. Integrated Biotechnology Program is 10 + 2 with Science stream (A, B or AB group). The admission will be as per Veer Narmad South Gujarat University rule. Academic session starts in the month of June for every year.

1st Prize in oral presentation at State level competition

Ms. Honey Parekh & Ms. Vaishali Saliya from 8th semester M. Sc. Biotechnology won the first position in the State Level competition on  “Current trends in biotechnology & business Ideas” organized by VNSGU in collaboration with SGCCI & GSBTM held on dated 24 April 2011. Her topic was “Feasibility study for commercial scale production of progesterone and seventeen alpha hydroxyl progesterone”.

1st Prize in poster presentation at State level competition

Parmar Ashesh, Prabhat Bhatia, Jaydeeep Thakkar and Rajkumar Patel from 6th Semester M. Sc. Biotechnology won the first prize in Poster Presentation competiton in the State Level competition on  “Current trends in biotechnology & business Ideas” organized by VNSGU in collaboration with SGCCI & GSBTM held on dated 24 April 2011. Their topic for poster was "Biofuels - Current Status and Recent Advances".

Biotechnology got 2nd prize in Scientoon competition at 27th state level inter collegiate competitions sponsored by Gujarat State Biotechnology Misssion (GSBTM) under Gujarat integrated BioNetwork (GIBioN) organized by Naranlala College of Professional and Applied Sciences, Navsari on 14th February, 2016.

The microbial art competition was organized to make students build confidence about Microbiology Laboratory techniques. The Microbial art helps students to express their artistic view using tools and technique of microbiology, hereby students get insight to explore their talent and gain subjective knowledge.

Students form 3rd semester and 5th semester M.Sc. Biotechnology took active participation in the competition and secured 2nd and 3rd place for the same. List of student winners are as follows:
